Roy W. Blain

U.S. Veteran

    Roy W. Blain, 95, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his residence. Born in Terrell, Kaufman County, TX, on Saturday, October 13, 1917, he was the son of the late William Lee and Laura (Hart) Blain.

    Roy was the husband of Carolyn "Carrie" W. (Clark) Barnhart Blain with whom he celebrated an 11th wedding anniversary on August 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Small Blain, whom he married on May 29, 1937. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1993.

    He was a 1937 graduate of Kaufman Texas High School. Roy honorably served during the Second World War as a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate with the U.S. Navy submarine division. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and had also been self employed as a farmer.

    Roy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Cogan Station, PA. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, he was a long time active member of the Church of Christ of Ola, Texas.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son from his first marriage; three grandsons, Chad Blain; Craig Blain; Clifton Blain, all of Texas; six step-sons, Les Barnhart; Jim Barnhart; Tom Barnhart; Andy Barnhart; Ben Barnhart; John Barnhart. He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, Roy was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

    Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 with Les Barhart officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
