Emma M. Temple

    Emma M. Temple, 92, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Sunday, March 14, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bessie (Canada) Dewalt.

    Emma was the widow of Raymond C. Temple who preceded her in death on May 13, 1999. They were married October 15, 1947 in Maryland. On May 21, 1943 she married Paul Shireman who was killed in action on September 15, 1943.

    Emma was a 1939 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. She was employed by the former Montgomery Mills and had also taught private kindergarten and had also worked at Radke's Jug Milk.

    She was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church at Montgomery where she was a former Sunday School teacher. Emma was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Bower-Decker American Legion Post 251 at Montgomery. She enjoyed canning and cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

    She is survived by three children, Barbara J. Kellerman, Allenwood, PA; Montey R. and Linda Temple, Allenwood, PA; Donna J. and Larry Miller, Montgomery, PA; four grandchildren, Holly (Coy) Reese; Lynn (Jeremy) Bell; Larry (Jenelle) Miller, Jr.; Michael Miller; six great-grandchildren, Emily Reese; Madelynn Reese; Leah Bell; Easton Bell; Lily Miller; Alexis Miller; one sister, Alberta Pysher, Montgomery, PA; two brothers, Edward Dewalt, Montgomery, PA; Lehman Dewalt, Montgomery, PA. In addition to her husbands, Emma was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and her son-in-law, Robert Kellerman.

    Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 with Reverend Viking E. Dietrich, pastor of St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
