U.S. Veteran

    Christopher B. Shellhamer, 36, formerly of Montgomery, PA, passed away unexpectedly following a lengthy illness on Friday, December 21, 2012 in Lansing, Kansas. Born in Long Branch, Monmouth County, NJ, on Sunday, June 20, 1976, he was the son of Reverend Doctor Ronald E. and Kathie (Bauer) Shellhamer of Williamsport, PA.

    Chris was a 1994 graduate of Montgomery High School. He honorably served with the U.S. Army and continued his military service with contracted security forces having served in Iraq, South Korea, Kosovo and other international sites.

    Chris was of the Lutheran faith.

    In addition to his parents, he is survived by five children, Joseph Shellhamer; Bryan Shellhamer; Christopher Shellhamer, Jr.; Mariana Shellhamer; Robert Shellhamer; one sister, Jennifer Shellhamer, Texas and his maternal grandparents, Otto and Florence Bauer, Freehold, NJ. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Evelyn Shellhamer.

    Funeral services will be conducted from the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn Street, Williamsport, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2013 with Reverend Richard Fangman, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church at Sunbury, officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the church. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard. The family will provide the flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Academia (a school of autism and children of special needs), C/O Drs. Erik and Debrah Krauss, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
